Coronavirus Update: NMMC sealed 2 shops, levied a fined of INR 50,000 each on 5 resto-bars

Amid the possibility of the third wave of coronavirus, Level 3 restrictions continue across Maharashtra. Therefore, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has been strictly taking action on those shops and establishments flouting COVID-19 norms.

Accordingly, the NMMC on Wednesday, July 7, sealed two shops and levied a fine of INR 50,000 each on five restaurants and bars for flouting COVID-19 rules.

The shops and other establishments are allowed to remain open only till 4 pm on weekdays.

In a statement, the civic body stated that the action was taken on the establishments who kept the shops open despite issuing them a warning and a fine of INR 10,000 when they flouted the rule for the first time.

They were booked under Sections 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act 2005 and Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code.

Similarly, a fine of INR 50,000 each has been recovered from Ramesh Restaurant and Bar, The King Bar, which were kept open at night at Turbhe Janata Market.

Besides, special vigilance teams from the Belapur division have taken action against Star City Bar, Aarush Restaurant and Bar in Sector 15, and Meghraj Restaurant and Bar in Sector 11, and collected fines of INR 50,000 each.

As per the orders issued by NMMC, a penalty of INR 10,000 will be levied on shops and INR 50,000 on restaurants, pubs, and bars if they remain operational post 4 pm.

If the establishments are found flouting rules for the second time, they would be kept shut for seven days. And if rules are flouted for the third time, they would be asked to remain closed until the pandemic ends.
