The 10-lakh threshold was breached by the Navi Mumbai’s vaccination quantity, with almost 93% of the eligible population receiving at least the first jab. With more than 100 active vaccination centres, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) is looking to veil the remaining population through the span of the next few days, highlighted a report by the Times of India. In addition to this, over 4.37 lakh people that is 40.4% of the eligible population have been fully inoculated.

According to the report, officials from the civic authority stated that a considerable portion of the city has been vaccinated against the coronavirus even though there has been a shortage in vaccine supply, in contrast to other cities in Maharashtra. The large vaccination numbers can also be attributed to the two jumbo vaccination drives conducted in the city in the last two weeks wherein more than 70,000 vaccines were available. Additionally, the government’s current protocol suggests that with a population of 15 lakh, the city had to vaccinate more than 10 lakh individuals.

Currently, 14.38 lakh vaccine jabs have been provided in the city with a priority given to the underprivileged segments. The NMMC looks to aid over 110 centres to attain a target of inoculating more than 25,000 people a day. The age segment that formed a major portion of the drives conducted recently was the 18-44 age group, with 6.3 lakh people in that group getting inoculated with the first jab and 1.7 lakh being given the second jab.
