There is something about the roads in Mumbai. As monsoon arrives, the roads can be spotted amongst the potholes and recently Maharashtra Navnirman Sena in their style, voiced their concern after six people lost their lives due to potholes. MNS general secretary, Sandeep Deshpande in response said that if the potholes on the Sion-Panvel Highway are not filled, then higher officials too will face the heat of the party’s way of doing work.

Deshpande during his visit to the Public Works Department (PWD) on Monday said that during the meeting, PWD has put forward a proposal stating that till the potholes on the roads are not filled, the toll on those roads should not be collected.

The department has also mentioned that they want this issue resolved as soon as possible and are working to ensure the approval from the government. If the government approves the proposal, then the citizens would receive relief from paying the toll on defective roads.

Sion-Panvel Highway is owned by the Public Works Department and this highway has been infamous for the potholes on the road. However, recently a person died due to a pothole and even after this, PWD did not make any efforts to fill the potholes. After which, MNS vandalised the PWD office in Turbhe on Monday morning.
