Amid emerging concerns over Omicron cases in Maharashtra, Nashik district on Thursday, December 23, kicked off the ‘No Vaccine, No Entry’ Campaign.

This development comes in the view to increase the vaccination coverage in the district.

Guardian Minister Chhagan Bhujbal announced that unvaccinated people and those who are overdue for their second COVID-19 vaccine dose would not be allowed entry into government and private offices as well as commercial establishments from December 23.

He said officials of the establishments and offices would face action if they failed to implement the policy. Those who are found in violation of the rules, may face strict action towards them.

Under this campaign, people who are not vaccinated against the coronavirus will not be allowed to enter commercial and public establishments, like malls, cinema halls, restaurants and government, public offices.

As per the latest figures, 40.61 lakh (78.5%) of the 51.7 lakh beneficiaries have taken at least the first dose, and 20.8 lakh (40%) have taken the second vaccine dose in Nashik.

The announcement for the same was first made on December 16, after a meeting of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) in Nashik.

On Thursday, December 23, Maharashtra recorded its highest single-day rise in the Omicron variant of coronavirus, with the genetic sequencing samples of 23 people that included five from Mumbai, reports stated.

Earlier, the highest single-day rise in the numbers of this variant was on December 21, when 11 cases were reported.
