A common man is prone to face traffic while traveling. To ease the traffic problems in the areas under Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) jurisdiction, continuous efforts are being made under the guidance of municipal commissioner Ganesh Deshmukh.

Recently, the civic body installed traffic signals at Adai Circle and Swarnganga Chowk. With this, the frequent traffic congestion at Swaranganga Chowk and Adai Circle Chowk has been reduced.

On the Panvel-Matheran route, numerous vehicles are traveling towards Panvel City from Adai Chowk. Due to the increase in traffic due to the buses of various enterprises, there was a constant traffic gridlock in this area during peak hours.

Additionally, a significant increase in the number of vehicles has occurred in this area as an outcome of the growing population in MMR post COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, traffic is moving quickly through this intersection. However, it was impossible to completely rule out the likelihood of an accident. The Panvel civic body, along with the Electricity Department, has built a signal junction in Adai Chowk to address this issue. The building of this signal has relieved the area's traffic congestion, and the locals are now expressing their joy as the situation has started to get better.

Traffic signals have been installed at Swarnganga Chowk in Sector 15 in Kharghar, which connects to the Sion-Panvel highway leading to Koparagaon, which has brought relief in traffic.

Traffic is a major problem being faced by Panvelkars. The Municipal Commissioner of Panvel in August demanded to get 30 wardens from the Mumbai Security Guard Board to make the city free from the problem.

There is a permanent traffic jam in the area of Postal naka, Shani Mandir, Mirchi galli.

For the first time since the establishment of the municipal corporation, the PMC has appointed a deputy commissioner for the independent transport department. Since every family has one vehicle, there is no space to park the vehicle under the building, so the vehicles are parked on the roadside. Therefore, half of the narrow road is being used by parking vehicles.

In a few days, these wardens will be operational with the help of the police for traffic regulation in Panvel City. Therefore, it will be easier for the police to regulate traffic in thein the city, said Ganesh Deshmukh.

Motorists hope that after installing traffic signals at Adai Circle and Swarnganga Chowk, PMC will manage traffic in other areas of the city as well.
