With the relentless efforts of Shiv Sena MP Dr. Shrikant Shinde and the people, more than 1,00,000 trees were sowed within 80 acres of Ambernath’s Mangrul area. However, 70 per cent of the trees were recently burned down by the land mafias in the area. As a result, the Shiv Sena activists under the leadership of Shinde, reached out to protest against the officials and threw ash on the officials’ faces.

Last year, Shinde had planted the 1,00,000 trees at Ambernath under an initiative to grow trees on July 5. However, more than 20,000 trees were burned down by miscreants on December 19, 2017. Meanwhile, the Forest Department and police had filed a complaint against the miscreants after the Shiv Sena officials had registered a complaint.

However, the police and Forest Department failed to conduct an investigation. After which, again the miscreants burned down several trees last week due to which the Shiv Sena members were irked. As 70 per cent of the trees were approximately burned down, Shiv Sena members protested against the officials by throwing ash on them.

The land mafia as well other miscreants have been eyeing the land at Mangrul as it is resource-rich property and thus, there have been repeated attempts to burn the trees down at Mangrul. Shinde told Mumbai Live that despite repeated offenses, the Forest Department and the police have failed to take any stern action against the accused.

According to Shinde, Forest Ranger Chandrakant Shelke has been suspended. He also clarified that the forest department has assured of taking care of the trees and has promised to take action against other officers.
