Amid the heavy downpour and flooding in Kolhapur and Sangli, Milk companies are facing difficulties in collecting and transporting milk. This can cause a shortage of milk supply in Mumbai. Several major milk companies including Gokul get their supply from the said districts in Maharastra.
Due to the heavy rains since Tuesday, several parts (low lying areas) of Kolhapur and Sangli district have been flooded which has affected the normalcy. So far, 11,432 people from Kolhapur has been safely rescued while 3,000 people have been rescued from Raigad.
Meanwhile, nearly 53,000 people in Sangli district have moved to safer places. The Navy and Army are engaged in relief and rescue operation in these districts. Earlier, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis called a meeting in Mumbai to review the flood situation.

In the meeting, senior leaders including Chandrakant Patil, Girish Mahajan along with government officials were present. The District Magistrate from affected districts including Kolhapur, Sangli, Pune, Satara, Palghar, Raigad, and Ratnagiri attended the meeting through video conference.
