Ghodbunder route was affected on Wednesday morning due to the closure of Kapurbawdi flyover at Ghodbunder for maintenance work. Queues of vehicles were formed from Kapurbavadi to Patlipada. Due to this traffic jam, motorists started driving in the opposite direction. Traffic on Mumbai Nashik Highway, Dhokali-Highland Road has also been affected. Drivers have to bear the brunt of the heat along with traffic jams. The police have appealed to the citizens to leave their homes late to avoid traffic jams.

Thousands of vehicles ply the Ghodbunder route daily towards Thane, Bhiwandi, Nashik and Mumbai. Heavy vehicles ply through the Kapurbawdi airport bridge. The work of replacing the iron strip connecting the road on this flyover was taken up by the Public Works Department on Tuesday night. But the cement on this strip is still not dry. Therefore, the bridge was not opened for traffic even on Wednesday morning.
