Traffic on Mumbai Roads is an age-old issue and has been a headache for the citizens who are posed with issues due to the congested roads. One of the major reasons behind the congested roads is the lack of sufficient parking spaces which results in people parking on the sides of the roads.

While the municipal corporation has constructed various parking lots across the city, the lack of proper functioning has led to inconvenience for drivers. One such parking lot is the BMC M-West Ward parking lot situated in Chembur East which has been non-functional despite its construction being completed a year and a half ago.

The parking lot in Chembur East was built in 2018 near the pond located close to the BMC M-West Ward. The parking lot was inaugurated but it was not opened for public use and ever since that, the parking lot has been kept shut.

Prior to the renovation of the parking lot, the open space was used by the people to park their vehicles as it was a public parking lot. Before the renovation, the open space had reduced the number of people parking at illegal spots but with the new public parking lot, the malpractice has resurfaced.
