The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation plans on increasing the doubling rate of 36 days to 50 days. The civic body plans on doing this with the help of 50 newly-added ambulance clinics that are geared up to visit the slums and test the symptomatic patients.

The BMC aims to increase the current average doubling rate. However, in certain parts of the city, like Malad (P North ward), Borivali (R Central), Dahisar (R North), Kandivali (R South), Bhandup (S) and Mulund (T), the duration of doubling rate is less compared to the city average. The BMC Commissioner too had visited the slums earlier to check the sanitization of the community toilets and to observe the operations of the local dispensaries.

The Commissioner of the BMC, Iqbal Singh Chahal, after inaugurating the Mission Zero Rapid Action Plan had visited a containment zone at Appa Pada in Malad East. He interacted with the locals and listened to their complaints about sanitization and hygiene. He further directed the officials to ensure that the washrooms are cleaned at least five times a day.

Earlier in the month, the doubling rate of Mumbai was 24.5 days. This happened to be far better than the national average of 16 days. In the past, the death rate in the city happened to be 3 per cent which is almost equal to the national average. Meanwhile, the discharge rate was 44 per cent with Dharavi's doubling days being recorded at 42 days earlier.

The BMC commissioner Iqbal Chahal had earlier stated that the once the doubling rate would increase, the requirement of additional beds would reduce drastically. Furthermore, he had said that on the existing bed strength, four times the patients would be able to avail treatment. As per an update shared by Additional Municipal Commissioner Mumbai Municipal Corporation, Ashwini Bhide, as of 1:30 PM on June 20, the city had 6,072 available beds.
