A permanent solution to the recurring waterlogging problem in the Andheri subway area during the monsoon will now be implemented. State Minister for Urban Development Madhuri Misal has directed the BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) administration to begin work on the project immediately. She also emphasised that swift action should be taken to provide relief to local residents.

During a meeting held at Mantralaya, a detailed review of flood conditions in Andheri Subway, Dawood Baug, and Azad Nagar areas was conducted. The meeting was attended by MLA Ameet Satam, Murji Patel, Additional Commissioner Abhijit Bangar, and other officials.

Minister Misal stated that to address flooding caused by the Mogra nullah, key solutions such as diverting the flow of the drain, constructing water storage tanks, and increasing the drainage capacity should be considered. The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay is currently preparing a detailed technical report for the project, after which a final decision will be made.

These measures are expected to significantly reduce waterlogging during the monsoon season and provide major relief to residents. It has also been indicated that the administration will allocate the necessary funds for the project.
