Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Kalyan-Dombivli have been increasing rapidly, and the localities were recently under a complete lockdown imposed by Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC). Data released as of August 2, 2020, states that with the addition of 402 new cases, the tally in Kalyan and Dombivli has reached 23,347. Besides this, 456 people have died due to the infection.
Keeping this increase in mind, KDMC has sealed 430 areas marking them as containment zones or red zones in Kalyan and Dombivli. The municipal corporation has also updated the list of hospitals available for coronavirus treatment. As of August 1, 2020, the list has a total of 29 hospitals. These COVID-19 facilities have 3,621 beds, 734 oxygen beds, 227 beds in the ICU, and 79 ventilators.
Thane district, on the other hand, has 96,120 cases, out of which 61,516 have recovered and 31,929 are currently being treated for coronavirus. The district has also seen 2,674 deaths. With an aim to curb the coronavirus spread, the government along with local officials extended the lockdown until August 31 in Thane and nearby areas.
Data released by the state health department also confirms that Maharashtra has a total of 4,41,228 cases with 25,576 deaths.
