Mumbai – Finally, Mumbaikars will be able to see the penguins on March 17 which is the designated day for inaugural of this much-awaited and much-hyped event. Though invitations for this inauguration programme are being distributed, the newly elected Mayor, Vishwanath Mahadeshwar, and the leader of the BMC House, Yashwant Jadhav, are openly claiming that they have no idea of this event. With this, people are confused on why these leaders are issuing statements even after the concerned department took the decision for this inauguration after consulting them.
Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray will inaugurate the penguins' section at Ranibaug on March 17. The Mumbaikars will have to pay no fees to see these penguins till March 31. Thereafter, adults will have to pay Rs 100 and children will shell out Rs 50 for the same.

The BMC had brought eight Humboldt Penguins from South Korea in July last year. Since then the politics revolving around these adorable birds is getting heated every time. One of these birds died due to weather conditions in the city forcing the animal lovers and local leaders to sending them back to their natural habitat. Still, the BMC overcame all the hurdles and took care of these penguins and kept them at Ranibaug. After getting a positive report on the specially built section for penguins on March 6, the BMC shifted all these birds in this new section the next day. With these developments, the day for the inauguration of this penguin section in Ranibaug was fixed on Friday, March 17.

The Mayor and the leader of the house tried to conceal the date of the inauguration from the media as they replied in negative when asked on this inaugural function. They had even suggested some corrections in the invitation card when assistant municipal commissioner handling the responsibility of Ranibaug, Sudhir Naik, and PRO Vijay Khabale met them on Tuesday afternoon. When media reported the scheduled inauguration Mayor and leader of the House tried to conceal the inaugural date on Wednesday. As they lied at the beginning of their new innings in the civic administration, what would they remain honest to the citizens of this metro city, one may think.
