The Maharashtra government has allowed hotels, bars and pubs in Mumbai to remain open till late night owing to Christmas and New Years celebrations. This permission is granted for three days.
According to a circular issued in this regard by excise department, the liquor retail shops will remain open on December 24, 25 and 31, from 10.30 pm to 1 am.
What is written in the circular?
It is written in this circular that, "As per letter dated 24.12 with reference to the above subject under Section 139 (1) (c) and Section 143 (2) (H1) (iv) of the Maharashtra Prohibition Act as given below. The given table tells about the occasion of Christmas and New Year. 2023, dated 25.12.2023 and dated 31.12.2023, the Government is approving to keep various liquor sale licenses open till late night after the prescribed time."
Except in Police Commissionerate area, clubs have been allowed to operate from 11:30 pm to 5:00 am the next day and in Police Commissionerate area from 1:30 pm to 5:00 am. Also, beer bars have been allowed to continue from 12:00 midnight till 5:00 am the next day.
Along with this, bars and wine shops will be closed from 11:00 pm to 1:00 am the next day for licensees of Municipal Corporation as well as Class A, B and B municipal areas and till 10 pm for all other places: Permission has been given to operate from 00 am to 1:00 am.
