In Saturday's second match of VIVO Indian Premier League (IPL 2019), Mumbai Indians continued their victory run as they defeated Bhuvneshwar Kumar-led Sunrisers Hyderabad at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad by 40 runs. Mumbai Indians' decision to bring Alzarri Joseph was fruitful as the debutant picked up six wickets in his first ever IPL match.

Both the teams had entered the field after winning their respective previous encounters. As Hyderabad won the toss, they elected to bowl first which was a wise decision as Mumbai top order collapsed soon against the Sunrisers' bowlers. However, anchor innings from Kieron Pollard helped Mumbai cross the 136-run mark.

Kieron Pollard's cameo powered Mumbai Indians to a respectable total as he smashed an unbeaten knock of 46 runs off 26 balls with the help of two boundaries and four sixes. He was the top-scorer for Mumbai Indians.

Later in the match, Alzarri Joseph claimed tournament-best figures of 6/12 on his IPL debut. The 22-year-old Windies fast bowler broke the record of Pakistan bowler Sohail Tanvir, who claimed 6/14 in the inaugural edition of the IPL in 2008.

The win against Hyderabad has now powered Mumbai Indians to the fourth spot on the points table with three wins in five matches. Alzarri was awarded Player of the Match award for his breathtaking performance.
