BCCI CEO Rahul Johri accused of sexual harassment; CoA asks him to submit explanation

The Committee explained that although the allegations have nothing to do with his contract with BCCI, the CoA needs an explanation from Johri.

On Saturday, the Committee of Administrators (CoA) asked Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) CEO Rahul Johri to submit an explanation within a week after sexual harassment allegations were made against him. Recently, Johri was accused of sexual harassment by an anonymous user on social media. Rahul has been serving as the CEO of Indian Cricket Board since 2016.

There are certain media reports today, including in the social media, pertaining to Mr. Rahul Johri, CEO BCCI. The reports disclose allegations of sexual harassment made against Mr. Johri, by an unnamed person through a Twitter handle. The allegations also relate to his previous employment with a large media house," CoA statement. 

The Committee further explained that although the allegations have nothing to do with his contract with BCCI, the CoA needs an explanation from Johri and has demanded an explanation within a week’s time, basis which the committee will take further actions.

At BCCI, Johri is responsible for the functioning of operations, stakeholder management and building strategies for further promoting sports in India. Prior to this position, he served as an Executive Vice President and General Manager - South Asia for Discovery Networks Asia Pacific.
