MS Dhoni won the toss and chose to field first and the Mumbai Indians openers couldn’t get their side to a flying start with captain Rohit Sharma and Evin Lewis out of the frame at 20/2.

Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan stabilised the innings with 43 and 40 runs each. CSK’s Imran Tahir and Shane Watson broke the partnership but then stepped in the Pandya brothers.

Hardik and Krunal Pandya took Mumbai to 165/4 after 20 overs with Krunal 41 of 22 balls and Hardik scoring 22 of 20 balls.

CSK started their innings with Shane Watson and former MI player, Ambati Rayudu. Watson fell to Hardik Pandya and CSK were 27/1 after 4 overs. Hardik Pandya struck again with Suresh Raina and after that, debutant Mayank Markande took the game by a storm. The leg-spinner took 3-23 in his 4 overs and CSK were almost done in the game after Jadhav was injured and they were 7 down.

Dwayne Bravo scored a whopping 68 in 30 balls with 7 sixes and revived CSK’s innings before Kedar Jadhav came back on the field with his injury.

Jadhav struck a six with 3 balls to go and then a boundary to win CSK a thrilling game by 1 wicket.

Dwayne Bravo was declared the man of the match for his smashing innings. VIVO IPL 2018 has begun with a thriller and the cricket season has begun!
