Ramesh Powar applies for the post of Mumbai coach

Earlier, Ramesh Powar was the spin coach for MCA’s BKC facility but stepped down after some issues. But the former off-spinner wants to coach the Mumbai team and has applied for the same.

After the resignation of former Mumbai cricketer Sameer Dighe, Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) had invited online applications for the post of Mumbai coach. Former Indian off-spinner Ramesh Powar had expressed his desire to coach Mumbai and has recently confirmed that he has applied for the same. Earlier, Powar had played the role of spin coach for the MCA's BKC facility.

Although a group of MCA was keen to make former India fast bowler AB Kuruvilla the coach, Abby Kuruvilla and former India cricketer Pravin Amre did not apply for the post of Mumbai coach.

Tuesday was the last date of application for the position of Mumbai coach. Now, MCA will scrutinise the candidates appearing for the application and will call them for an interview and presentation on July 6. The MCA Cricket Reform Committee will conduct the presentation and interview.

After that, both the coaches, for the senior team of Mumbai and the under-19 team, will be appointed for July 15, 2018, to March 31, 2019.
