As per ICC, the Test Championship will be a contest between the nine top-ranked teams and will run from July 15, 2019 to April 30, 2021.

After abandoning the plan to hold the World Test Championship in 2013, ICC is all set to hold the championship in 2019. In the prime league of Test cricket, India will play its debut match in July 2019 against West Indies in the Caribbean Island. Along with this, the men in blue will begin the 13-team ODI League in June 2020 against Sri Lanka (away).

The ultimate cricket body, released its Future Tours Program (FTP) for 2018-2023, on Wednesday. The FTP confirmed several dates for all the bilateral international matches. As per ICC, the Test Championship will be a contest between the nine top-ranked teams and will run from July 15, 2019, to April 30, 2021.

The sides will play six series in the two-year cycle on a home and away basis against opponents they have mutually selected. The two top-ranked sides will then progress to the June 2021 final to decide the World Test champions. In addition, the 12 Test playing nations and the Netherlands, will participate in the 13-team ODI League, which will run from 1 May 2020 to 31 March 2022 and all the sides will play eight series over a two-year cycle on a home and away basis against mutually agreed opponents." said an ICC release on Wednesday.

Explaining about the ODI league, ICC said that the league will be a qualification platform for the 2023 World Cup which is to be hosted by India. Seven highest-ranked teams in ODI before March 31, 2022, and hosts, India will qualify directly for the 2023 World Cup. While the other five teams will battle to qualify for World Cup at the World Cup Qualifiers.
