Indian players Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul have been left out of the ODI series against Australia in Sydney after the Committee of Administrators (CoA) member Diana Edulji recommended a suspension pending inquiry for the duo’s controversial comments on women during their episode on Koffee With Karan.

Earlier, a Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) official had stated that while Rahul was not considered for selection, Pandya will not be playing for India at least in the game on Saturday. But eventually, CoA chief Vinod Rai said that the two cricketers will be suspended pending inquiry for their comments in the talk show against the women.

The team management has told Pandya that he is not playing tomorrow as they are yet to get a final directive. Rahul, in any case, wasn’t in contention for a first XI berth,” said a BCCI source had stated.

Earlier, CoA chief Vinod Rai had suggested a two-ODI ban on Pandya and Rahul but his colleague decided to consult the matter with BCCI’s legal team first. Later on Friday, Edulji too called for the suspension of the two players pending inquiry.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli responded to the controversy and said that the Indian team doesn’t stand by Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul for their ‘inappropriate’ comments on women during their stint with Karan Johar. However, Kohli insisted that the dispute won’t affect the dressing room morale.

A source in the BCCI said the two will be issued fresh show cause notices prior to the formal inquiry.
