Mumbai Indians (MI) today, October 5, witnessed a dominant win against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Sharjah keeping their playoffs hopes alive.
Ishan Kishan finished it off in style with a boundary and a six. He ends with 50 off 25 as MI chase down the 90-run target in 8.2 overs.
After the match, Ishan Kishan said: “Ups and downs are a big part for any sportsperson. We have to be prepared for the next match and play with the same energy as today."
With this magnificent victory, MI moved to the 5th spot in the points table and only below KKR on an inferior run-rate. Chasing a paltry 91, Mumbai Indians got across the finish line with 70 balls to spare.
"We had to come here and do what we had to do. The two points were very crucial for us. Once we had them bowled out for 90, we had a chance to finish it early. It is important to seize the game. We had to come out and bat freely. We had a chance to get the run rate in order. Was a perfect game for us. He is playing after a couple of games. I was there to take the risks. When you are under the radar, you need to get the job done. All the bowlers came together and did it for us. I feel in this tournament, any team is capable of beating anyone. KKR is playing before us and we will know exactly what to do, said winning caption Rohit Sharma.
Coulter-Nile, Neesham and Bumrah did the damage to derail RR. They've ensured MI have a chance to make it to the playoffs. However, the defending champions need to win their last match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and boost their net run rate as well.
This was said to be a virtual knockout game for the five-time Champions Mumbai Indians. If the home team would have lost the match, they’d been out of the tournament. The league stage is heading towards a thrilling end.
