When I was 7-8 years old, I used to go to school with my friends and the road to my school was close to MIG Cricket Club. Every time we'd return from school, we would deliberately pass from the road by the cricket club because we could see the ground."
He further added that it was his deep desire that he wanted to get an opportunity to play at this ground. Tendulkar said that MIG Cricket Club was the first proper cricket ground on which he played.
Recalling a special incident with MIG Cricket Club, he stated that during his early career days, he had played a centre-wicket cricket tournament at the ground. However, in one match, he had to face his elder brother, Ajit Tendulkar and describing the encounter, he said,
It was very difficult since we both didn't want to face each other. So, Ajit started bowling wide deliveries along with no balls and I began playing defensive strokes. But when I played one delivery back to the bowler, Ajit stared at me and it was that stare that commanded me to play my natural game. And, I didn't win the match but he lost. Eventually, I went on to win the tournament."
Meanwhile, the Tendulkar Middlesex Global Academy (TMGA) summer cricket coaching camps for 2019 will also be held at the MIG Cricket Club from May 2 to 5.
Former international players like Vinod Kambli would be training the participants.
On May 2, MIG Cricket Club inaugurated its new pavilion which was named after former Indian batsman and legendary cricketer, Sachin Tendulkar. The pavilion was inaugurated by the Little Master himself along with young cricketer Jemimah Rodrigues.
Talking about his experience with the club, Tendulkar shared several incidents from his initial career days. Explaining why he felt MIG Cricket Club was his home ground, the God of Cricket said,
