Mumbai Indians had to defend 130 runs in 20 overs; however, Delhi Capitals managed to chase the target in 19.1 overs.

On Saturday afternoon, October 2, Mumbai Indians (MI) lost its fifth match against Delhi Capitals (DC) in the second phase of the 14th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Delhi Capitals won against Mumbai Indians by 4 wickets. Rishabh Pant had won the toss and decided to field first. They restricted Mumbai Indians at 129-8 in 20 overs, with Avesh Khan and Axar Patel both taking 3 wickets each. 

DC had to chase 130 runs in 20 overs; however, they chased the target in just 19.1 overs. DC had lost its first two wickets early on. The openers departed early with DC losing its first 3 wickets in 30 runs.

It was Shreyas Iyer who gave a good stand to DC, with Hetmyer scoring 15 runs in just 8 balls. DC needed 4 runs off the final over, and Ashwin completed the 130-run chase for Delhi Capitals.  Axar Patel won the player of the match.

Mumbai Indians had won its earlier match against PBKS by 6 wickets; however, they had lost their first three matches in a row in the second phase of the IPL.

After today's match, MI is now at 7th position with 10 points while Delhi Capitals who have already qualified for playoffs are at second position with 18 points.
