Former champions Mumbai have had a rough season this year after the team has been languishing way down in the points table. However, the team has received a much-needed boost as the squad will witness the return of their senior player and pacer Dhawal Kulkarni for their Ranji Trophy Elite Group A game against Saurashtra.

The pacer was out of action after he suffered an injury but will once again don the Mumbai jersey after he has been named in the squad of the 41-time champions for their game against Saurashtra beginning here on Saturday. Kulkarni’s return would be a huge boost for Mumbai who still lacks the bowling attack necessary to intimidate the opponent and alongside, Kulkarni also carries tremendous experience along with his attacking bowling style.

On Wednesday, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) made the announcement on its website and declared the squad which will be led by Siddhesh Lad who was made the captain earlier. The match against Baroda was drawn by Mumbai and they managed to earn three points.

However, Mumbai will now need to defeat Saurashtra and get full points to stay in the race for a berth in the quarter-finals. Currently, Mumbai is placed in the 13th spot in the combined Group A and Group B points table with eight points to their account. And only the top five teams from the combined table will be qualified to make it to the last eight.
