Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI) have been rivals since the beginning of the Indian Premier League. Both the teams clashed on April 28 at Pune.

Chasing a formidable target of 170, Mumbai Indians’ openers, Suryakumar Yadav and Evin Lewis gave a good start with an opening partnership of 69 runs. Opener Suryakumar scored 44 runs for his team before he was dismissed by Harbhajan Singh in the 10th over.

But then came the captain, Rohit Sharma and played good shots and built a partnership of 59 runs for the second wicket with Evin Lewis. Just when the partnership was looking dangerous, Dwayne Bravo got Evin out in the 17th over.

The bowlers were really economical in the death overs which put pressure on the Mumbai Indians’ batsmen. Mumbai needed 22 off the last two overs while Hardik Pandya and Rohit Sharma were present on the crease. Although skipper, Rohit Sharma could not make impact in the previous matches, but he scored a sensational fifty and led his team to victory.

The bowlers, Dwayne Bravo and Imran Tahir got single wicket each for the Super Kings.

Earlier, Mumbai Indians won the toss and chose to put the hosts to bat first.
Mumbai Indians got an early breakthrough as Krunal Pandya dismissed Shane Watson in the 4th over. But, Suresh Raina and Ambati Rayudu kept the scoreboard ticking with their aggressive approach and formed a quick second wicket partnership of 71 runs. Rayudu continued his form from the last match whereas Raina appeared a lot more confident with his shots.

Chennai Super Kings were 97-1 after 11 overs and were looking to put up a formidable target for the visitors with both the batsmen looking comfortable on the crease. But, Krunal Pandya once again struck a wicket and dismissed Ambati Rayudu. Raina scored his second fifty of the season in just 35 balls and was the leading run-scorer from his side. Raina scored 75 runs off 47 deliveries.

Mumbai Indians bowlers restricted Chennai batsmen to 169. Mitchell McClenaghan was the top bowler for Mumbai as he scalped two wickets in his four-over spell and conceded just 26 runs. Krunal Pandya and Hardik Pandya also finished with two and one wickets to their account respectively.

Mumbai Indians will now lock horns with Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 31 at Bengaluru.
