Today, September 13, Arun Dhumal, the BCCI treasurer, addressed the reports that are doing rounds about Virat Kohli stepping down as skipper. He has squashed such claims and said that "nothing as such is happening."

He further added that this is what the media is talking about. BCCI has not met or discussed anything about this issue. He said that "Virat will remain as the captain (of all formats)."

Earlier reports suggested that India’s captain Virat Kohli is likely to step down as a skipper of the limited-overs format. Rohit Sharma will captain the Indian side during T20 and ODI's. The changes in the team were going to take place post T20 world cup, which is scheduled to start from October. However, he will continue to captain team India during Test matches.

Times of India had quoted a BCCI source that said Kohli will himself make the announcement. He wanted to concentrate on his batting which had led to this decision. The source also said that Virat wanted to "go back to becoming what he has always been — the best batsman in the world."

It was said that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli had both agreed to this and were on the same page. Addressing the same, "We realize spin-masters will be at work, giving their own twists to these developments. That’s the reason BCCI has been planning this in well advance. In the end, Virat and Rohit are on the same page," said the source to the media.
