After almost two decades, Mumbai cricketers and former partners Sachin Tendulkar and Vinod Kambli have come back to Mumbai grounds. However, this time, they have headed back to the city’s grounds to train youngsters and help them explore their talent in cricket. The duo has stepped onto the cricket pitches as Tendulkar launches one of his most ambitious programmes in which he will coach kids as young as seven.

Kambli will be a part of the team that the Master Blaster has put together for his academy which has been formed in collaboration with English county Middlesex and will be known as Tendulkar-Middlesex Global Academy. Middlesex Cricket has played an instrumental role in world cricket, having trained great talents such as Andrew Strauss, Mike Gatting, Denis Compton, John Emburey and Mike Brearley etc.

The academy will provide young girls and boys between the age of 9 and 14 with an opportunity to learn from the two major institutions of cricket – Sachin Tendulkar and Middlesex Cricket in England. Earlier, Tendulkar had stated that he had played with Kambli since his school time and when he asked him for his assistance in the project, he readily agreed to contribute.

The coaching and the talent-spotting camps will be beginning November 1 onwards. From November 1 to 4, the camp will be conducted at DY Patil Stadium, Nerul, whereas the camp at MIG Club, Bandra will be held from November 6 to 9.

On the other hand, Kambli expressed his happiness over his partnership with Tendulkar by calling it a ‘dream-come-true opportunity’. Reliving his nostalgia, Kambli stated that it was a great opportunity to work with Tendulkar and he hoped that they’ll be able to teach the children like they were taught by Achrekar sir.
