At the end of Day One of the India-Afghanistan Test match at Bengaluru, India faced a late comeback from the Afghan boys. India finished the day with 347-6 on the scoreboard after a brilliant first session and the opening partnership of 168 between Shikhar Dhawan and Murali Vijay. It is noteworthy that both the openers went on to score centuries on Day One.

Their partnership was broken when Yamin Ahmadzai got the first wicket for Afghanistan in Test cricket after Shikhar Dhawan got out after scoring 107 off 96 balls. Vijay (105 off 153 deliveries) too lost his wicket soon to Wafadar after scoring his ton and after that India soon kept losing wickets regularly.

It definitely wasn’t Rashid Khan’s day as Shikhar mercilessly thrashed him three consecutive boundaries in his maiden over. Rashid finished as the most expensive bowler of day after giving away 120 runs and picking up just one wicket (Ajinkya Rahane). Whereas, Yamin Ahmadzai was the most impressive bowler after he picked up two wickets with an economy of 2.46.

Ravichandran Ashwin and Hardik Pandya are still present on the crease and it will be interesting to see now where the match shall head. Will the visitors make the mark in the first Test or will the hosts dominate the Afghan boys?
