Indian opener Smriti Mandhana is known for her aggressive approach towards the game and she once again proved why the T20 format is her forte. While playing for Western Storm, Mandhana smashed a 50 in just 18 deliveries and equalled the record for the joint fastest women’s fifty in T20s. The half-century came against Loughborough Lightning in the KIA Super League in England.

The southpaw is the first Indian to play in the KIA Super League which is England’s flagship tournament for women’s T20. After the match was hit by rain, the game was shortened to six overs per innings where Mandhana finished with 52 runs off 19 balls. The Mumbai-born cricketer equalled the fastest fifty record in Women's T20s with New Zealand’s Sophie Devine.

Mandhana got off the mark with a six and also reached her fifty with a maximum. Her innings consisted of five fours and four sixes.

Coincidentally, Devine was also playing in the match and was a part of Loughborough Lightning. She scored a blistering 46 off 21 balls but could not ensure victory for her team as they lost by 18 runs.
