Rohit Sharma, the captain of the Mumbai Indians, spoke about his availability for the first four matches of 16th season of Indian Premium League (IPL) during a press conference on Wednesday, March 29.

Sharma revealed that he will leave the decision of whether he needs rest to Coach Boucher, who was also present at the conference. Boucher responded by saying that he is willing to give Rohit rest if he wants it.

In addition to Rohit's availability, there were discussions about the managing workload of players during the IPL. Rahul may miss some games to manage his workload. However, in his absence, Suryakumar Yadav is set to take over as the captain of the Mumbai Indians. While Rohit will still travel with the squad, he may choose which games he plays in this season.

Despite his injury history, Rohit Sharma wants to lead India on both fronts - the 50 over World Cup and the World Test Championship final - after the IPL final. He will also coach Suryakumar Yadav from the bench when he is not on the field.

Rohit emphasised that players need to maintain themselves for national duty while playing for their franchises in the IPL, and that it is up to the franchises to manage their players' workload.

Rahul responded, “It’s all up to the franchises now. We have given some indications to the teams, but at the end of the day, it’s up to the franchises. And more importantly, it’s up to the players. They are all adults; they have to look after their bodies. If they feel it’s getting a bit too much, they can talk about it and take a break in one or two games. I doubt if that will happen”
