The Eagle Thane Strikers on May 15 made their debut as a team in the T20 Mumbai League. However, they were handed a 6-run defeat in their first-ever match, as North Mumbai Panthers beat Eagle Thane Strikers to start their campaign in Mumbai T20 League on a winning note. The Strikers were off to a disastrous start as they lost their opener, Sachin Wagh early in the match.

However, Kaushik Chikhalikar and skipper Aditya Tare ensured to take a firm stand as they added 88 runs for the second wicket to keep their team in contention. But soon, Prathamesh Dake gave his team the much-needed breakthrough by sending back Chikhalikar for 56. After which, the entire pressure of the run-chase seemed to have fallen on skipper Tare's shoulders who scored 71 runs but couldn't ensure victory for his side.

Earlier in the match, North Mumbai Panthers piled up a mammoth 190 for 8 in the allotted 20 overs after being asked to bat first. Skipper Prithvi Shaw set the tone for the rest of the innings by dispatching Balwinder Sandhu for a couple of fours in the very first over. Shaw looked in great touch and hit two more boundaries before being run-out in the fourth over for 22.

After which, the Panthers witnessed a middle-order collapse as they lost three wickets for 15 runs and were reduced to 83 for 4 from 68 for 1. However, Sairaj Patil and Karan Nande played explosive innings to put their team total to 190/8. While Patil scored an 18-ball 46, Nande scored a fifty which earned him the Player of the Match award.

Brief scores: North Mumbai Panthers: 190/8 ( Nande 50, Sairaj 46; Ankush Jaiswal 1/23) bt Eagle Thane Strikers 184/5 (Tare 71, Chikhalikar 56; Attarwala 3/37) by 6 runs.
