The legendary Indian team captain and world-renowned all-rounder Kapil Dev, who helped India win its first Cricket World Cup in 1983, has been rushed to hospital after suffering a heart attack.

However, as of now he is undergoing treatment and is said to be in a stable condition. The cricketer was admitted to the Fortis Hospital in Okhla area of South Delhi at 1:00 AM due to chest pain as per the statement released by the hospital. The statement further reads that doctors examined him and found a blockage in a blood vessel that supplies blood to the heart. He underwent angioplasty surgery at night.

Post the surgery, the cricketer has been placed in the intensive care unit. His condition is stable and doctors are said to be monitoring his condition extensively. One hopes that he makes a speedy recovery especially in a time when everything seems so uncertain, especially with regards to the loss of lives. The hospital in its statement has mentioned that he will be discharged soon.

Known as a legendary player, Kapil Dev achieved everything that is possible when it comes to cricket. He had helped Indian cricket achieve a new level of glory during his captaincy period. He had spearheaded India’s win in the 1983 World Cup. Moreover, he secured a commendable historic series win in England in 1986.
