23-year-old Dravita Singh lost one hand and a leg in a train accident when she was attacked by a thief who hit her on the head while she was talking over the phone standing near the door of a local train near Masjid station.

What's the story?

On Wednesday, February 7, 2018, Kalyan resident Dravita Singh boarded CSTM-bound train from Kalyan. Her brother Deepak Singh informed that Dravita came near the door to talk over the phone as she was facing network issues. Meanwhile, the train slowed down near Masjid railway station and the moment she came near the door, a mobile thief who was standing near the pole hit her on the head with a stick which made her lose balance and she fell on the track which was a fast track. 

After she fell on the track, though she was bit unconscious, she saw another train approaching towards her. With all her strength she managed to pull her body out of the track but she couldn't save her leg and her hand.



She was admitted to Bhatia Hospital around 4:00 pm. She suffered a head injury and small crush injuries. Doctors operated on her right leg and left hand," Shailendra Ranade, Plastic Surgeon, Bhatia Hospital.  


The GRP arrested the mobile thief and booked him under sections 307, 397 and 384 of IPC.
