If you are a pani puri lover, think twice before eating at restaurants because you might up landing at hospital owing to unhygienic pani puri. Recently, the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) raided pani puri manufacturing units where puris were being made on the floor in unhygienic conditions. 


The FDA officials raided Om Sai Foods company, situated at Dahisar (West) where puris were being made in filthy conditions. Not only this but the products which were being used to make puris which included oil, dough, were of low quality.


Shailesh Adhav, FDA Joint Commissioner (Food) told Mumbai Live that the oil container was dirty and the oil that was being used was of low quality. Soon, during an inquiry, the FDA officials understood that the said manufacturing unit had no permission to make the puris. FDA has now filed a complaint against Om Sai Foods company.  

Officials seized 696kg puris worth Rs. 34,800, 46kg sev worth Rs. 2300, 238 kg palm oil worth Rs. 19,000. In total, Rs. 56,172 worth items were seized by the officials.


The company which was seized by the FDA officials used to provide the same puris to nearby restaurants, street-side stalls.
