The team of the Mumbai Police Crime Branch arrested four people from Goregaon and Santacruz for selling adulterated milk.

According to sources, the accused used to tear milk packets of reputed companies and mix them with unclean water before selling them. Earlier on Wednesday, June 16, Mumbai Police reportedly raided the residence of the accused where 300 litres of adulterated milk was seized.

Mumbai Police had earlier received information that the accused that been sourcing milk from companies like Amul and Annapurna which was being adulterated in a house in Mumbai’s Santa Cruz area. Moreover, a team from Unit 9 along with the Food and Drug Administration reportedly raided the area.

On the other hand, in a piece of important news shared for the citizens of Mumbai, the FDA had earlier found that milk supplied in Mumbai from other cities and districts is not free from adulteration and is of low quality.

As per reports, more than 3,500 litres of low-quality milk has been sent back by the administration and samples have also been taken for testing. Officials conducted a milk inspection campaign in Mumbai on Thursday and Friday, January 21 and 22, 2021, whereby over 6.63 lakh litres of milk was tested from 170 milk vehicles reaching areas like Dahisar, Mankhurd, Airoli, Mulund Cheknaka East, Mulund Check Naka, LBS and others. Of these, 254 milk samples were tested and seven samples were found to contain low quality milk.
