Two businessmen, who set up several bogus companies, were arrested by GST officials for allegedly plummeting Goods and Services Tax (GST) worth ₹626 crore in Mumbai. The GST officials arrested Rajesh Mehta and Akshay Jani while the search to arrest nine others is ongoing. 

GST officials discovered that 26 bogus companies were formed joining the Rajesh Mehta Group and One World Group company. Rajesh Mehta Group company had nine such bogus companies under its label followed by 11 companies in One World Group and the transactions between these companies has also been reflected. However, no actual business happened between the companies.

An official informed that Mehta Group is accused of not filing GST worth ₹237.93 crore, while Akshay Jani has not filed GST of ₹74.22 lakh. In total, the group of companies have not filed ₹626 crore GST.
