On Wednesday, Pakistan’s Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) resumed hearing of the 2008 Mumbai attacks case and also summoned the last two Pakistani prosecution witnesses to record their statements.

When former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said in a recent interview that non-state actors had crossed the border to carry out the Mumbai attack, the court resumed hearing the case in Pakistan.
The court directed government officials to provide details regarding the availability of 27 Indian witnesses in the next hearing.
Now the case is in the final stages and only statements of two Pakistani officials have to be recorded. Therefore, notice be served upon director general FIA, secretary of interior and secretary for foreign affairs for submitting their final and concrete response in the court qua the availability of 27 Indian nationals so as to conclude the trial expeditiously,” the court said.

In November 2008, ten Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists killed 166 people and wounded dozens in Mumbai. In three days operation, Mumbai police killed nine attackers and caught and arrested Ajmal Kasab, who was then executed after a trial in India.
