World Trade Centre in Cuffe Parade accommodates many offices, tenants and also hosts various events related to art. In a first of its kind suicide incident at this prime location, Harendra Kapadia (51), who was a GST officer, committed suicide by jumping from this iconic building's 30th floor.

It has been stated that Kapadia had suffered a brain stroke 8 months back and was operated at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Andheri. However, he had resumed work 3 months back but had been suffering dementia i.e. a chronic persistent memory disorder which is a result of brain injury. He had been enduring the agony of this prolonged illness since then and after being fed up with it, he decided to take this drastic step. 

The incident occurred on Monday, May 13 at 6:30 pm. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead before arrival by the doctors. Taking under consideration the statements by the people present there, the local police have filed a case of Accidental Death Record (ADR) and is probing the matter further.
