In recent developments, Actor Kangana Ranaut and her sister Rangoli Chandel, have been summoned for questioning by the Mumbai police in a sedition case. Ranaut and her sister have been asked to appear before the investigating officer on October 26 and 27.

As per reports, the case has been registered under Section 124 A (sedition), 153-A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, prejudicial to maintenance of harmony) and 295-A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings by insulting its religion) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

A complaint was lodged in the Bandra Metropolitan Magistrate's Court against Kangana and her sister Rangoli for making divisive statements between communities. According to the Bandra police, a case has been registered against them which includes a treason clause. Kangana had earlier also made controversial statements about those protesting against the new agricultural laws. In a riveting statement, she had stated that the people who were spreading rumours and rioting about the CAA were now spreading misinformation about the agricultural laws in order to spread terror in the country. A complaint was lodged against her in a Karnataka court as well.

The battle between the Sena and the actor had earlier escalated after her comparison of the country's financial capital with Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir where she claimed that she was "scared" to live in the city. The Sena and NCP's Anil Deshmukh in response had suggested that she quit living there.
