Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh attacked Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and others who defame the state over the Sushant Singh Rajput death case. Deshmukh demanded an apology from the BJP for making allegations against the Mumbai Police.

Deshmukh also said that action will be taken against social media accounts that had maligned Mumbai Police online. The Mumbai Police have been asked to prove the social media accounts, he added.

While addressing a press conference, Deshmukh said that BJP deliberately maligned Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s Maharashtra.

“Michigan University based in the United States of America (USA) also has the same report. They reviewed the SSR death case and found BJP’s hand in conspiracy theories around the actor’s demise. They should apologise to people of the state,” the minister said.

Some news channels have also been named in the study, Deshmukh said while adding that a national party had manufactured a controversy to defame Mumbai Police and Maharashtra ahead of the Bihar assembly elections.

This comes days after the report by the AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) Forensic Medical Board termed the demise of Sushant Singh Rajput as a case of hanging and death by suicide while ruling out the murder angle.

As this happened, Deshmukh attacked the BJP accusing it of indulging in creating conspiracy theories. The minister also slammed the senior BJP leader from Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis and asked him whether he would campaign for ex-DGP of Bihar - Gupteshwar Pandey - who defamed Maharashtra.

Pandey took early retirement from his post as Bihar DGP and joined hands with Nitish Kumar-led Janata Dal (United) to contest the upcoming elections in Bihar. Fadnavis has been made BJP’s election in-charge for Bihar assembly elections.
