Police investigating the suspected watermelon poisoning case in Mumbai believe that salt mixed with Zinc Phosphide may have been applied to the fruit, leading to the deaths of several family members, as per the report by ABP Majha.

According to the investigation, the family had consumed watermelon before falling seriously ill. Preliminary findings suggest that the toxic substance may have been intentionally mixed with salt and spread on the watermelon, raising suspicions of deliberate poisoning.

Police and forensic teams are examining food samples and other evidence collected from the residence. Officials are also questioning family members and individuals connected to the case to determine how the poisonous substance entered the food.

The incident has shocked the local community, and authorities are awaiting detailed forensic and post-mortem reports to confirm the exact cause of death.

The investigation is ongoing, and police have not ruled out any angle so far.

On April 26, four members of a family died and others fell ill allegedly after eating watermelon at their home in the Pydhonie area.
