After the arrest of nine suspected terrorists who belonged to People’s Front India which is linked with ISIS, Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) revealed that they were going to carry out “acid and chemical attacks” in a crowded place on Republic Day – January 26. 

Maharashtra ATS informed that the search operation was carried out to catch these nine suspects after investigation agencies got a lead on a group linked with ISIS. ATS arrested four people from Mumbra in Thane and five people from Aurangabad. The Maharashtra ATS seized some chemicals, mobile phones, hard drives, sim cards, acid bottles, and sharp knives. 

According to sources, National Investigation Agency (NIA) earlier arrested a few people during their search operation at 16 places in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. After this, the investigation agency got the lead for nine suspected terrorists who were arrested on Tuesday.

Of the four people arrested from Mumbra, one of them is a teenager and the accused are highly educated. The three adults - Mohammad Mazhar Sheikh, Mohsin Khan, and Fahad Shah – and one teenager were trying to flee before they got arrested.
