In connection to Dr. Narendra Dabholkar’s — president of the Maharashtra Andhashraddha Nirmoolan Samiti — murder, accused Sachin Andure’s police custody has been extended until August 30 by Pune’s Shivajinagar District Court. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) claimed that Dabholkar and senior journalist Gauri Lankesh were murdered by the same pistol. Likewise, they pleaded the court to extend Andure’s police custody for further interrogation.

A few days ago, Vaibhav Raut (associated with the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS), the parent outfit of Sanatan Sanstha), Sharad Kalaskar, and Sudhanva Gondhalekar were arrested for planning attacks in the state. While interrogating Kalaskar, the CBI found out about Sachin Andure, who was then arrested for allegedly murdering Dabholkar.

The CBI informed the court that a pistol that was seized from accused Andure’s brother-in-law's house, was used to murder both Dabholkar and Gauri Lankesh.

After arresting Andure, CBI carried out a raid at his friend and brother-in-law’s house where they seized arms and ammunition that included 7.65 pistol, three live cartridges, sword, and a dagger.
