On Wednesday, June 8, Mumbai Police Commissioner, Sanjay Pandey held a meeting of senior police officials in light of the recent threats issued by Al-Qaeda to conduct terror attacks in Mumbai, among other Indian cities, reports stated.

According to accounts, Al-Qaeda threatened to initiate suicide attacks to "fight for the honour of the Prophet". These threats come in the aftermath of controversies over the statements of some BJP leaders on Prophet Mohammed.

Based on narratives, Pandey addressed the police officials and discussed security concerns. In addition to this, the meeting also reviewed the security arrangements from Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Mumbai on June 14.

Reports suggest that the meeting was attended by the joint commissioner of police, law and order and additional police commissioners. Herein, Pandey discussed the general security arrangements in Mumbai.

It has been reported that DCPs have been told to instruct the anti-terror cell of their concerned police stations to be on alert.

On the other hand, on Tuesday, June 7, Thane's Mumbra Police summoned suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma by June 22 to record her statement. This is reported to be for a case registered about her objectionable comments against the Prophet.

Moreover, separate cases have also been registered against her in Thane's Bhiwandi and Mumbai's Pydhonie. At the same time, Sharma was accorded security by Delhi Police on Tuesday following the filing of an FIR on a complaint that she was receiving death threats about her remarks.
