The accused in the murder of jeweller’s 63-year-old wife, who lived in the Tahnee Heights in the upscale area of Nepeansea Road, was found in Bhusawal. Kainhayakumar Pandit (20), a servant who joined work as a housekeeper on his first day, committed a murder. Finally Malabar Hill Police found him at Bhusawal.
The dead woman's name was Jyoti Shah. Mukesh Shah and his family live in a flat on the 20th floor of Tahnee Heights. Mukesh owns a gold and silver jewellery shop in Trident Hotel. At seven o'clock on Tuesday morning, Kainhayakumar had joined work at Shah's house as a househelp. At eight o'clock another servant left after his regular work. Then at half past one, Mukesh left for his shop with his 42-year-old daughter. Then only he and Jyoti Shah were in the house.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday evening, the girl tried to contact Jyoti on her mobile and home phone. But the phone was not picked up. So when the girl contacted the neighbours and asked them to see her mother, the door was found closed. So Mukesh and his daughter came home and found Jyoti unconscious. She was immediately taken to the hospital. But doctors declared her dead. Moreover, Kainhayakumar also went missing. He had switched off his mobile while going.
After killing Jyoti Shah, the accused Pandit left Mumbai and called his father from another mobile phone. The servant, who came to Mumbai from Bihar on March 8, was hired by a young man he knew and who worked for Shah. Accordingly, the servant who came to work at seven o'clock in the morning on Tuesday killed Jyoti at 3 pm in the afternoon, the same day. Two diamond bangles worth INR 3 lakhs were missing from Jyoti's hands. From the CCTV outside the house, it was found that the accused was the last to leave the house.
