Three held for allegedly running a marijuana bakery in Malad

The NCB has registered under various sections of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Officials have mentioned that the trend is popular among the youngsters in the country who are using marijuana in the edible form like brownies.

Post a recent investigation, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has come across first-of-its-kind case in India, where two men and a woman from Malad were held for operating a bakery and allegedly using marijuana in the edible form. As per reports, the  trio was baking cakes using marijuana and selling them.  

A case has been registered under various sections of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Data released by the agency confirmed that a over 800 grams of weed and pot brownies and over 150 gram of marijuana was found and has been confiscated.

Sharing more information, NCB, in a recently released statement said, "Cannabis edibles may affect people for a longer period than smoked cannabis. The important base to all food edibles is that it has fat that has been infused with THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol)."

Reports state that the trend is popular among the youngsters in the country. Officials also mentioned that the edible form of marijuana is being made and sold in different forms of food that contains milk or any fatty substance like oil or butter, and this makes it difficult for one to identify between the infused and non-infused food items. Agency stated that items like candy and potato chips can also be made, and some of the products usually have a hint of green colour in their appearance.

Similar raids are being conducted across Mumbai to identify rackets and groups involved with drugs. Recently, many such connections were found in the film industry as well. Officials have also been involving similar drug case to understand the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Chats and conversations are being identified to understand the connections between the druglords, dealers and the buyers, involved in the rackets.
