An incident of unidentified passengers looting taxi drivers is making round from past two months. Cabbies are not at all safe, be it in Mumbai or Navi Mumbai. A gang of 3-4 members used to hire the taxi to go to Grant Road. Different cases of loot have happened in many areas which include CBD Belapur, Mankhurd and Vikhroli. 

Robbers posing as passengers used to beat drivers black and blue after snatching purse, money and other valuable items. A case of the complaint was registered against them in Vikhroli police station on 29 April and 5 May.

Finally, Vikhroli Police have nabbed the robbers. They are identified as Sharafat Ali Khan (30), Rishabh Chautalia (30) and Rahul Tiwari (23). Vikhroli police have seized tow taxis with plate number MH 01 AT 4800 and MH 01 AT 3288, and a knife. 

Sharafat Ali is a serial robber and there are 12 cases registered against him in different police stations. One of the accused is absconding. Police are probing further in the matter.
