A 49-year-old woman was arrested from Thane district’s Ambernath in Maharashtra for allegedly possessing cannabis.

On Monday, November 22, a 49-year-old woman was arrested from Thane district’s Ambernath in Maharashtra for allegedly possessing cannabis, reported the news agency PTI.

The cannabis is reported to be nearly INR 1 lakh, said the police. On Saturday, the woman was apprehended based on a tip-off. From her possession, 5 kg ganja was seized, stated an official.

She was then booked under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

On the other hand, the Mumbai crime branch nabbed a Nigerian national on the Chembur-Govandi Road, near Anil bus depot. It then went on to make one of its foremost seizures constituting 5kg MD, 118 gm of cocaine and cash. All of this was reported to be worth INR 5.36 cr, stated accounts.

The crime branch team, acting in accordance with a tip-off, detained the Nigerian national who was identified as a 40-year-old, Anthony Achekule. He is claimed to be a resident of Navi Mumbai’s Kharghar.

Initially, in spite of a comprehensive search, the cops couldn’t find anything on him. Later, they tore the purse the man was carrying and found cavities, hidden in it. The individual has been booked under the NDPS Act and sent to police custody till Friday, November 26.
