Former Mumbai Police Commissioner, Param Bir Singh on Monday, November 22, told the Supreme Court that he is agreeing to come before the CBI in 48 hours, reported the news agency ANI. Amid this, the apex court has granted him protection from arrest.

Thus, he has been directed to join the investigation. Additionally, the Supreme Court has agreed to hear Singh’s plea. A notice has been issued to the Maharashtra government as well as the CBI. The matter has been posted for hearing on December 6.

Singh’s advocate too had apprised the Supreme Court that the former Mumbai Police Commissioner was in the country and isn’t absconding as believed earlier. Further adding that Singh is hiding since he faces a threat to his life from the Mumbai Police.

Additionally, amid the extortion allegations levied against ex Maharashtra Home Minister, Anil Deshmukh by Singh, dismissed police officer, Sachin Waze also made a statement. Waze told the Chandiwal Committee that he is a mere small pawn in the case. Adding that he trusts them. It has been reported that he will be cross-examined on Tuesday, November 23.

Earlier last week, Singh was declared a proclaimed offender by Mumbai’s Esplanade court, with which the police can designate him as a wanted accused and begin the process to declare him as an absconder.
