The Mumbai Police have sent a notice to the Mankhurd resident, Karishma Bhosale, who visited a mosque near her residence and got into a spat with individuals while asking the mosque to lower the volume of Azaan played on the loudspeaker.

The video of the incident went viral on social media with Bhosale getting support from the majority section. Bhosale’s attempt to lower the volume of Azaan led to arguments and scuffle between her and individuals present at the mosque. This also created an atmosphere of tension between the locals and her.

The Mankhurd Police sent a notice to Bhosale and her mother under sections 149 (cognisable offences) and 188 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC). It stated that the attempt made by Bhosale to visit the mosque and asking them to lower the volume of Azaan could have led to a law and order situation.
